EcoffinsUSA is the sister company of The SAWD Partnership, a manufacturer of Eco-friendly coffins, caskets and urns and one of the
forefathers of the green burial movement in the United Kingdom.
EcoffinsUSA was born from the desire to supply Ecoffins to the United States
while minimizing the carbon impact of single-unit transportation. A subsequent
benefit is the convenience provided to the funeral industry and consumer:
removing the red tape and cost associated with importing individual items.
Since container loads are shipped “Russian Doll” style (a larger unit contains two or three smaller units nested inside) from
our worldwide factories directly to our US Warehouse, a funeral professional
has easier access to our entire product line, and would be able to pass along
the costs savings to the consumer, providing an affordable, attractive
environmentally friendly focal point to any ceremony.
EcoffinsUSA and The SAWD Partnership share a commitment to the environment. Our
company charter states, in part, that we “value the physical environments in which we work and do everything we can to
ensure that we improve rather than damage them.” This commitment is evident in many aspects of our day-to-day business
decisions.
Our company’s factory in China has been awarded Fair trade status. This is in recognition of the fact that we have enabled our craftsmen to
prosper while maintaining their time-honored livelihoods.
In line with our company’s strong green beliefs, all of our products are manufactured in the most
environmentally friendly way: individually hand-woven using age-old skills.
Subsequently the carbon emissions of our factories are minimal. The entire product line is manufactured using only sustainable materials and
each manufacturing facility is close to the raw material source to reduce the
carbon impact of their transportation.
